There will be some changes...

On my other blog, Peachtree Knitter, I talked about a decision I made yesterday that has to do with my etsy shop.

Right now, I'm not happy with my shop.  I feel like an assembly worker, mindlessly putting together earrings and stitch markers.  I've had ONE sale since posting my first items in June.  When I look at what I'm selling, I can see why.  The stuff I'm selling can be bought at a department store for five bucks.  (Excluding the stitch markers--decorative ones are hard to come by.)  I can claim they are one of a kind.  The odds that someone will make earrings with the exact combination of beads are really, really slim--but there is a chance.  It's just loading beads on a head pin.  That's it.

I decided I want to make art.  Textile collages.  I want to take my favorite materials and turn them in to something that is TRULY one of a kind!  THAT is what I would buy at etsy.

If you are interested in the whole story (and it's a long one) you can check out the link to my blog at the beginning of this post, but if you are interested in the short version, here it is:

I used to want to be an artist.  Everyone thought I would be an artist.  Life happened, and art was replaced with responsibility and parenthood.  I still feel inclined to create art, though.  Simple earrings are not art.  Plain aprons--again, not art.  New inventory of store--art.  (Or artful.  I might still make aprons and such, but they will be embellished to the hilt!)

I'll continue to sell earrings and stitch markers, but they won't be the focus of my store.

Here is a sneak peek at my current project:

Oh, alright.  Here's a zoomed out picture:

Stay tuned--you won't be disappointed!!

BTW, if you read my other post, I give a shout out to Calamity Kim.   I'm thinking of featuring her in a post.  Her work is beautiful!

We have a winner!

Congratulations, Christine (From Dates to Diapers)!  You won the earrings!  You should have an email waiting in your inbox!

Thank you to everyone who commented!  If you didn't win you can still get really cool stuff from my etsy shop.  My prices are low and my jewelry and stitch markers are sent with custom carrying pouches!

I like making new friends, so please come back!  I'll be having more giveaways in the future, and if you are an etsy seller with a blog and would like me to link to you (and are willing to link to me) go ahead and let me know!  It's all about exposure, right?

Thanks again, everyone!

Contest is now over!

Thanks for all your comments!  The contest is now closed.  Check back tonight to see if you won!

Contest ends tomorrow!

I just wanted to remind you guys that the deadline for the random drawing is tomorrow.  I decided to close the contest at 9am est tomorrow.  I'll be announcing the winner at 5pm later that day!  Good luck!

Mice are Nice Stitch Markers

I just listed a new item today at my shop

Mice_stitch_markers_003

They are a set of six stitch markers made of painted porcelain...they're mice!  :)  Aren't they sweet?  They are only 7.99 and can be found here.  (You can also find more pictures at that link!)

No one has responded to the question I asked in a previous post:  "what do you guys want?"  What do you want to buy, want do you want to receive as a gift, what do you want to see?  I want to improve on my items, my store, and my blog, so any advice, comments, etc, would be GREATLY appreciated!

"Just Charmed" earrings

After a long hiatus, I made a new sellable today!

Comments?  Criticism?

These are available here, and are only $7.99.    (AND, I ship all my items with a custom made carrying pouch!)

Good morning!

Wow!  I've gotten a lot of responses to my giveaway!  This will be a little harder than I thought!  (It's only  day two three of the contest!)

Don't forget, I'll be randomly selecting a winner on Friday, so you have plenty of time to comment on the "Giveaway" post!  Good luck!  (You're going to need it--a lot of people want those earrings!)

I was thinking of making this a monthy event.  What do you guys think?  At first I considered doing it weekly, but then realized how costly that can get!  Monthly sounds good, though.

Also, I'm curious as to what people want now.  I haven't gotten many hits at my Peachtree Knitter site.  I'm giving away stitch markers over there (and you are more than welcome to vie for them!)  No one's interested in stitch markers?  I know there are a lot of knitters out there!

In the future, what would you like to see more of?  What's popular?  Let's say I can make anything in the world, what would you buy?  Please comment!  I'm a very talented gal, and I might just have something even cooler to offer at my next giveaway!

BTW, I just wanted to say that I do intend on visiting the blogs of all those who comment on my posts!  Give me a bit of time, though, because there are a lot of you!  (I can't wait to see your blogs!!!)

And, as a reminder, I have a shop.  It's over there in the side bar.  Click it.  No really.  I have more earrings.  ;-)

Have a great day, all!

A Contest-A-Long?

Autumn Daisy from the Etsymom group I belong to posted about this today, and what a great idea!  Apparently, there is a blog that is going to host a sort of contest-a-long.  Check out Rocks in my Dryer for further details!  Check back here on Monday when I decide what item I'm going to giveaway!   Will it be an item already in my store?  Or will it be something entirely new?  Only time will tell...

Also, check out my other site come Monday, as I will do this on that blog, as well!  (I need all the publicity I can get!)

Holy Moley!

Yay!  I made my first sale on etsy!  I'd like to thank Sunrise Lodge Fiber Studio for buying my Holly stitchmarkers!  Go ahead and click her link and check out her shop!  She makes very lovely yarn!

So, other than that, I'd like to apologize for the hiatus.  We went on vacation for a week for the fourth.  When we got back, I alternated between frenzied cleaning marathons and lazy "I'll-just-sit-here-and-mope" sitting-fests.  Today, though, I realized I couldn't ignore my computer any longer.  I took some photos of a bracelet I made two weeks ago, and posted a new listing on etsy.  I'm hoping this goes fast, for it is definitely one of my favorites!

Here's a pic of it not on my hairy wrist:

And this, of course, can be found here, for those of you interested in purchasing!

Namaste!
